The conspiracy so well guarded by the power-wielding elite that even asking about it will get your post deleted.
(Alternatively, it’s a creepypasta meme created to entertain /x/).

tl;dr:Version:

  • The world of professional golf is rife with illuminati sex slave satanic-panic depravity.
  • And these people are so powerful and yet so paranoid of exposure that they’ll even exert their influence to obliterate any threads about it on 4chan. Tiger Woods’ career was thrown under the bus to deflect attention from the real scandal.
  • A professional golfer named Erica Blasberg died in mysterious circumstances in 2010. Was she involved? (And when did ‘Golf Rumours’ actually start?)

This conspiracy seems to be built from composite parts that already exist in the paranoiasphere.
(1) That there is a depraved elite committing heinous sexual crimes and occult blood rituals. (They may or may not be giant lizards). In the past, this has been developed as the satanic panic/project monarch conspiracy. In this case, the world of professional golf is the hub of the horrors. Not at all unbelievable really when you look at the well-proven examples of abuse being covered up in other monied and elite circles such as the Catholic Church and the NXIVM cult preying on the entertainment industry.

(2) If you try to discuss this conspiracy they will shut you down. The dichotomy between these conspiracisits hiding in plain sight and leaving all those symbolic breadcrumbs for us to follow and on the other hand, being so invested in shutting down any discussion that they manage to make certain topics practically unmentionable on the internet never seems to be addressed. Again, this idea has a long conspiracy history, remember how the men in black would turn up if you got too close to UFO truth?

Is it me or are we seeing a recent increase in dumbing down?

I know I’ve been complaining about mainstream media for a long time but… Looking at the more hysterical fringes of the conspirasphere (as I do) I can’t help but notice all these sites seem to adopt the same near impenetrable wall-of-glossolalia approach. Nutterspeak has it’s own discrete and recognisable grammar, from Sherry Shriner to Prison Planet to every crazy posting about Satan‘s NWO chemtrails on facebook. When I see a lot of random capitalisation and breathless run-on sentences I find myself trying to imagine the tinfoil-hatted poster thumping away at their keyboard, hour after hour in an earnest crusade to wake up the sheeple.

But perhaps we adopted this tortured language in an attempt to better grab the attention of search engine indexing bots? I certainly see lifestyle bloggers adopting the same speech patterns that are explicitly laid out by SEO optimisation articles and I’ve had conversations at work with people who also notice this.

Speaking of which, have you tried to read a tabloid newspaper celebrity gossip article recently? There’s this eerie repetition of staccato, simply worded statements, repeated with slight rephrasing. I’m not going to suggest checking out the Daily Mail sidebar of shame but I’m sure you know what I mean. It’s not just the old familiar tabloid lexicon (“romp” “tot” “jibe” “boffin” if you’re in the UK) it reads like an AI learning to throw together sentences and refining them until it gets something the dumbest human will retweet.

So are we just adapting ourselves to the vagaries of the search engine algorithms, or is there an orchestrated agenda behind this newspeak?

I can completely imagine that dumber people are an easy demographic to market to. If your content is a dogwhistle for the stupid, I’m sure you can tap into a rich seam of advertising revenue. Follow the money.

In the same way, I believe political speeches are dumbed down to attract more fanatical voters and stymie useful critical discourse. Again, follow the money.

Edward Bernays/marketing horror: Everyone needs to watch this documentary “The Century of the self” Seriously, it’s a somewhat concise summary of how advertising blathered into all our lives and polluted everything. Wish they’d shown us it at highschool in the 90’s.

So…specifically, what is an internet mystery for the purposes of this blog? I guess I mean mysteries not just springing forth from but also focusing on the internet. So Golf Rumours may have had it’s genesis on the internet but I don’t consider it an internet mystery as most of the meat of the story (is alleged) to be taking place out there in the meat space. For practical purposes, this category is going to have to be somewhat flexible as many internet-based mysteries make claims to IRL manifestations. I’d certainly be interested to know how others would circumscribe internet mysteries.

Die Glocke

“The Bell”: Apocryphal lost Nazi technology.
The known history of Die Glocke begins in the year 2000 when it was described by a Polish writer in a book about WWII Nazi technology. Since then, it’s been popping up, attached to theories about Philadelphia Experiment-level stuff – Anti-gravity, time travel, Nazi occultism…you know, the usual.

So what was it really, and did it exist? Who knows. There quite possibly was some experimental craft called Die Glocke being worked on. Was it a time machine? Probably not.

But then, some of the actually verifiable crazy ideas both the Allies and Nazi’s came up with are well worth reading about in their own right, no need to embellish the truth.

The Black Pope Prophecy

A Catholic doom prophecy, muddled through history and translation.

In the late 1500’s a prophecy was published, purported to be from the 12th century Irish Archbishop, St Malachy. The prophecy takes the form of a list of 112 cryptic allusions to predicted future popes (and antipopes). Now, according to the prophecy, the last pope on the list who bears the appellation “Peter the Roman” will precede the destruction of Rome:-

Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End.

Oh and guess where we’re up to in the pope-list?

However, there’s apparently no historical evidence of the prophecy before the 16th century, so any claims of 12th century authorship are a bit suspect. Also, the information about the popes in the list is accurate up to the time of publishing, then becomes less accurate.  

So what about this “Black Pope”? He‘s not actually mentioned by St Malachy. Black as in skin colour? Or just identified as black by his vestments or in the same way Edward of Woodstock was known as the Black Prince? If there’s a likely Cardinal called Peter Black maybe Rome should be worried but apart from that…*

Conspiracy theorists have bolted Nostradamus on to the story and are looking to shoehorn current events into the historical vagueness but personally all I see is rampant apophenia.

I’m not sure how this one ended up on the conspiracy iceberg, but I can’t help but notice professional lunacy generator, Sherry Shriner, has picked it up and run with it.

Rich people literally do buy other people’s blood. That is literally a thing that happens. There’s money to be made in the blood bank business. Or if you want to go a bit more sinister, old rich people can get expensive transfusions of young peoples blood in the hope it will rejuvinate them. Not to mention the so called vampire facial, but at least that uses your own blood.

There’s a long history of donor blood related creepiness. Not least, the discrepancy between the healthcare available to the rich and the poor in this world. Taken to extremes, you may find yourself selling your blood so those with more money can use it in unproven elective cosmetic procedures. Organs for transplants are in short supply and we know that if you’re in need of a lifesaving transplant you can pay to jump the waiting list.
In the 1980’s money dictated that HIV-infected blood continued to be transfused into patients long after it was known to be dangerous, because why let inevitable deaths get in the way of profit, right?

So yeah. The ruling elite do have better access to better blood. But Illuminati Blood Banks? Hmm.

Blood is imbued with layers of meaning, in our language and mythology. Blood suffuses the way we talk about class and social hierarchies. Blood symbolises life and death. And blood shows up again and again in Illuminati conspiracy theories – Illuminati bloodlines, blood rituals and occult practices. Depending on what conspiracy theories you look to there’s an Illuminati (reptoid) elite out there who are either dependant on human blood or are using it in their occult rites to, er…bring about a New World Order through black magic and mind-controlled popstars. Honestly, there are so many conspiracy theories at this point it’s hard to keep them straight. But of course that’s all part of their far-reaching psyops, isn’t it?
