I thought I’d been to Bielefeld while on a holiday to Germany c.1998. I remember the little shopping mall and I think I was wearing a denim jacket that day but I couldn’t describe anything especially memorable about the place. I didn’t take any photos to remember the visit. Then again, who says it was Bielefeld? It’s easy to fake a roadsign and I never thought to stop anyone and ask where I was. It could have been any average little town.
The Bielefeld Verschwörung is an old internet conspiracy theory that says Bielefeld doesn’t exist. You’ve never been there, you’ve probably never met anyone who’s been there and if they said they had, they’re probably just lying to you because it’s funny to perpetuate this idea of a hoax town.
(For more places that don’t exist, see: Taured).
